The 16th Dhaka International Textile & Garment Machinery Exhibition (DTG), also known as DTG 2019, ran from January 9-12 at ICCB in conjunction with the 16th Dhaka Int’l Textile & Apparel Accessories Exhibition (DitaTex) and the inaugural Bangladesh Int’l Sewing Machinery & Accessories Fair (BISMA) showcasing complete textile and garment supply chains covering different processing stages from spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing and finishing to sewing and fabrics.

The event was jointly organised by Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) and Yorkers Trade and Marketing Service Co., Ltd. In line with the exhibition scale expansion and to render better exhibition services and facilitate better visitor experiences, the show organisers relocated DTG 2019 to International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) for the first time ever, with the new venue adjacent to an industrial zone to facilitating visits by industry professionals. The event comprised 11 exhibition halls, including four regular halls and seven temporary AC halls, with exhibits classified in accordance with textile and garment supply chains.

Global brands gather and highlight internationalization advantage

DTG has annually kept brining world-class professional brand suppliers for Bangladesh’s textile and garment industries, and has been likened to a “mini ITMA.” This year, the show boasted the largest scale in its 16-year history, with 1,200 brands using 1,650 booths or 30,000 sq mtr in space to display their latest products, up 25 per cent on year. The event gathered brand suppliers from 37 countries and regions, including Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Netherlands, Pakistan, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and USA.

There were China Pavilions, Hong Kong Pavilion, Korea Pavilion and Turkey Pavilion, and Taiwan Pavilion. DTG visitors accessed diverse distinct exhibits and strong offerings from around the world, while also enjoying onestop procurement exchanges at the best platform for seeking ideal suppliers on a comparison basis.

Whole industrial chains on display to support complete turnkey solutions

DTG exhibits fully covered machinery equipment and accessories needed in different stages of textile and garment industrial chains, including upstream spinning, midstream weaving and dyeing, and downstream garment manufacturing segments. There were many renowned brands from the segments participating in the event, including leading spinning equipment suppliers CTMTC, LMW, Murata, Rieter, Saurer, and Truetzschler; iconic weaving equipment brands Itema, Picanol, Staubli, and Toyota; top circular knitting machinery brands Lisky, Mayer & Cie, Pai Lung, Santoni, and Terro, major flat knitting machinery brands Cixing, Shima Seiki, and Stoll and famous warp knitting machinery specialist Karl Mayer; noted dyeing equipment suppliers ACME, Bianco, Fong’s, Monforts, Son-Tech, and Thies; and printing machinery specialists Epson, M&R, Mimaki, MS, OZ, Sulfet.

Sewing machines and fabric materials were arranged in separate halls, where three major exhibitor groups from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan as well as noted international brands are gathering to showcase a variety of exhibits, including cutting machines from IMA, Kuris, and Richpeace; sewing machines supplied by Brother, Pegasus, Siruba, Shing Ling, Typical, and Zoje; and embroidering machines from Tajima. Visitors seeking to source quality garment manufacture were advised to tour these three halls first.

Industrial upgrades driving Bangladesh to go upward further

Textile & garment industry has already become the most important sector of Bangladesh which accounts for over 80 per cent of export turnover rate, making Bangladesh the second largest garment exporter of the world. According to the prediction, the amount of Bangladesh’s textile & garment export will reach $50 bn by 2021. As country’s textile & garment industry continues expansion, the demand for advanced machinery and technology is on the rise, several major sectors are ready to update its machinery and equipment for driving all relative industries to the next leading level.

We represent five-six companies in Bangladesh offering knitting machine, printing machine, cutting machine and dyeing machines etc. The show is good; so many customers are coming, let’s see how the enquiries we have received materialise in future.

2018 was not very good, as due to elections not many people were investing in new technologies. Now, the new govt. is elected so we hope that the industry scenario will improve now. In 2019 we are planning to bring many new technologies including low liquor ratio dyeing machine, knitting machines etc. for the industry here.

We are representing James Heal, CoPower, X-rite, and few other companies for laboratory testing solution. We are working in this industry since 2000 and have been witnessing increase in our sales volume every year. Nowadays, Bangladesh garment industry is growing at a very good pace because several companies are shifting there orders from China so it is great opportunity for us to have more business in near future.

I hope next five years will be golden time for Bangladesh textile industry. As far as DTG is concerned, last four days were tremendously good as we received 1 mn dollar order this time. We hope new location to be more popular next year so that more customers visit the same in future.

Our company is sole agent for Memminger-Iro and also their service partner for Bangladesh. Any service technical issue, spare parts, developments etc. is taken care by us only. When compared to other South Asian countries Bangladesh is taking challenge of going for automation very effectively. After the new govt.’s election, we are looking forward to very dynamic next five years for investment and also inline with this infrastructure development of country, which will be very helpful for all sorts of textile development.

We had very encouraging response at DTG, the best part for Memminger is that we had over most of the technical people visiting us. We received very good orders and are really thankful to DTG for giving us such international exposure.

We offer advanced computerized sectional warping machines, single end sample warping machines, single end sizing machines, speciality warping creels with electronic controls, precision tensioner, material handling and storage equipment for various industry, customized tailor made machinery for technical textile.

Our company is from India, which started doing business in Bangladesh 16 years ago and has more than 18 customers here. The show is good and we got good no. of orders here. We are planning to come up with more newinnovations for this industry in 2019.

We are representing Gemini CAD systems from Spain in Bangladesh. We have automatic spreading machine from COSMOTEX Spain. These technologies help customers to reduce manpower & time consumption, increase productivity and save fabric. This year there are less people at DTG may be due to labour unrest.

We have not received any order but a few customers who visited were interesting in our offerings, so maybe after the show we may finalise some orders. Business wise, 2018 was better than 2017 for our company. In 2019 we will be focusing more on customer satisfaction.

We are one of the pioneers in inkjet technology. Within the technology in textile printing space we provide three kinds of solutions to the customers with different heads from Epson, Konica Minolta and Kyocera.At the same time, we have solutions for sublimation printers also. We have been working in Bangladesh for past 5 years. Our experience at DTG has been really good; the response is more than expected.

Since we are among few companies who have displayed their digital printing machines here, we got good visibility. Hence, I am expecting good business after the show. We have already sold few machine and orders have been finalised here.


M.B. Rahman Biplob UNIMAC Associates Ltd

We are the official agent of Matsuya brand computerized flat knitting machine, Mathbirk linking machine, Rimoldi cup seaming machine, Auto soft winding machine and UNIMAC brand High speed linking machine to promote the sales and services in Bangladesh market. We are also developing automatic sewing machine from Rambo Chinese brand.

We also have automatic cutting and spreading solution, and are developing complete knitting and apparel solution. We had fantastic experience at DTG with customers coming for knitting, linking, and other machines’ enquiries and orders.

 


Md. Amanur Rahman Dysin International Ltd

Our company’s main business is chemicals. We also have machinery division where we represent companies from Europe, China and other countries selling three major types of equipment: printing, garment dyeing and laboratory & testing. This year exhibition area is bigger at DTG and number of exhibitors is also very high. This is a meeting ground, and place to showcase our new innovative technologies.

But we are not happy as larger numbers of senior management people have not visited the show. At the same time, we are happy with the things we have done at this exhibition i.e. brining new machinery for digital printing and screen printing here. In 2020 we will be back with a bigger booth here.

We mainly represent European companies like Rieter, Savio, Xorella, SSM, OBEM, Stalam, Kusters. This exhibition is really good for companies like us, who represent foreign machineries brand in Bangladesh. We can meet and discuss with our customers together at one platform. We found it a very good opportunity to discuss and share our future investment things.

The year 2018 had lots of ups and down due to which some sections in industry were not willing to invest in new technologies. But now with improved scenario, we are expecting to get some good orders in 2019.

We make flat bed knitting machines in various gauges. Our latest model HS248c has maximum speed of 1.7 mtr per second. We got very good response from customers at DTG. Several companies’ MD, Chairman and leading management people visited us and saw the machines. They are very impressed with the machines quality and are planning to give us more orders.

We are very happy with customers’ response and co-operation of the organisers of the show. We started doing business in 2017 by selling 300 machines, which was increased to selling 2,000 machines in 2018. In 2019 we are planning to beat this target.

We represent Groz- Beckert, Memminger-IRO, Exacta Italy in Bangladesh. Groz Beckert offers different types of needles and spare parts, Memminger IRO supplies spare parts for knitting machine and Exacta supplies sweater linking machines. The exhibition is good as so many people are coming and this is happening at the new bigger and better venue this year.

Bangladesh has huge textile especially knitting industry so people are visiting to get ideas about new innovations in the market and expand accordingly. We got good number of enquiries and are confident of those getting converted into orders after the show.

We represent several products in Bangladesh from garmenting to textile machines. Most of the machines are very high end-high automated technology machines. We represent world’s best knits textile finishing machine from USA i.e. Navis TubeTex. This machinery is very popular in this country because of being of its high quality and performance. 90 per cent of knits textile companies use our machines.

We have highly automated tubular cutting machines for T-shirts. Besides, we represent automatic printing machines from Hebbecker, Germany, and in washing we represent Yilmak from Turkey. Most of the people visiting us are looking for high end sustainable machines. The show is overall very important for our industry.

Our technological advances and applied expertise have driven both digital and rotary screen printing technologies to new levels of productivity and quality with highend printing equipment. STOVEC is very famous for screen and rotary screen printing machines. For last 35 years our company is selling machines and we have a very good base.

Bangladesh is a booming economy particularly in textiles they are really good. Two years ago we started looking after Bangladesh operations from the Indian site.Overall, experience at this show is extremely good. The participation and footfall at the show is good and facilities provided are comparatively better this edition.


Shubhasis Sur Kusters Calico Machinery Pvt Ltd

We manufacture textile processing ranges such as singeing, de-sizing, bleaching, mercerizing, dyeing, print washing and others machines for both woven and knits. Our company is from Germany, operating in Bangladesh for last 20 years. This year we are feeling that denim manufacturing plants’ requirement is more.

As now we have stable govt. in Bangladesh, so industry people are thinking of technological investment. At this show, we received few very good orders, which will be finalised after the show. We are offering Bangladeshi customers both European and India made machines, so that they have options to choose from.

We manufacture textile testing instruments. Our company is in market for over 140 years providing testing solutions to all kinds of textile customers, factories, universities, commercial labs etc. It’s been 18 years we have been catering to Bangladesh market. At DTG 2019 we met more number of customers than last year.

So, far it’s been a good experience in all. It was more of greet and meet people here but the orders will be finalised after the show. 2018 for our company was fairly good as we increased our sales by 3 per cent in comparison to 2017.

We actually represent more than 12 companies from different parts of the world including Saurer, Staedler, Holz, Prashnat Group from Ahmedabad, Hengjiu from China, H-Feng from China, Hoxing for plastic bobbins and many others. I have attended the show’s earlier editions also, and feel this year it is much more organised.

This year DTG has spent a lot of money in branding all over the country. In terms of visitors’ footfall, we were surprisingly happy as from day one we couldn’t have time to sit down as there were so many customers. We got a lot of new positive customers and business opportunities at DTG.

Since 2010, we are representing Shima Seiki from Japan which manufactures computerised knitting machines. We have exhibited their latest solutions to meet the current needs of the Bangladeshi market, as well as advanced solutions for future market needs. Till day we have sold 18,000 machines in Bangladesh. DTG this year has shifted to new venue which is more organised, convenient and have good facilities.

The show is witnessing lots of footfall and we have received good enquiries here so we are hoping good orders after the same. Even, post the new govt. formation we are expecting the industry to grow more as they have announced to invest more for the development of textile segment. As a company we hope to do better in 2019.
