On July 9, 2019, the bluesign® DIALOGUE series stopped over in Dhaka and focused on various aspects of responsible manufacturing in the textile industry. 200 participants learned in-depth about current issues in the industry, and discussed consequences for the companies in Bangladesh.

The speakers focused on how the sustainability issues should be tackled in a systematic manner to ensure that there will be measurable and real valued impact, how the business growth and sustainable movements can advance together, what the challenges and opportunities are for Bangladesh in the near future, and how these can be managed.

Kurt SCHLAEPFER, head of Customer Relations; Christian DRESZIG, Head of Marketing and Communications; Walter Streitler, head of Customer Relations Asia; and Shahan Reza, Country Customer Relations Manager – Bangladesh and Pakistan discussed the challenges and the solutions available today for responsible textile manufacturing and gave insight into the services Bluesign provides.

The panel discussion was highly informative and open, and the industry leaders Mohammad Abdul Monem, Director – BGMEA; Md. Mostofa Monowar Bhuiyan, Director – BKMEA; KM Rezaul Hasanat, Chairman – Viyellatex Group; Jhon Dimick, VP- Youngone; Siddharth Raj, Regional Marketing Manager – Huntsman, and Andreas Troscheit, Head of Brand Technical Services – CHT shared their views and opinions on the challenges in implementing sustainable solutions and how they are planning to overcome those. The 200 participants represented government organizations, BGMEA, BKMEA, various brands, manufacturers, chemical suppliers, and international organizations.
